| Novalis features image-guided radiosurgery technology for high precision treatment of various body targets allowing physicians to localize tumors with sub-millimeter accuracy. Typically performed on an outpatient basis, stereotactic radiosurgery is painless, and no anesthesia is required for the treatment. Patients are able to return to their daily routine the same day.
Southeast’s Varian® linear accelerator also is equipped with intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) to precisely shape radiation beams to the contour of the tumor. But Novalis takes IMRT a step further with image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT). Southeast is the only cancer center in the region to offer IGRT.
