At the new Breast Care and Diagnostic Center in Cape Girardeau, patients have convenient access to the most advanced breast health care services available in the region.
In addition, patients also have direct access to some of Missouri’s most respected breast care specialists.
Located at 60 Doctors’ Park, the Breast Care and Diagnostic Center is a collaborative service with Southeast Missouri Hospital providing diagnostic imaging and Cape Girardeau Surgical Clinic providing physician care.

The Center’s dedicated radiologist on-site, Tony Sangchompuphen, M.D., is available for immediate diagnostic services. Mammography screening results also are available promptly. And, if suspicious abnormalities are revealed, surgeons are on site for diagnostic consultation and treatment planning.
In addition to screening and diagnostic digital mammography, the Center also offers bone density screening.
The Center is equipped with the MAMMOMAT® Novation, a full-field digital mammography system from Siemens Medical Solutions. This innovative technology enables physicians to better assess disease and plan treatment. With this equipment, cancer detection rates are increased with Computer Assisted Diagnosis. The size of the image detector allows imaging of almost all breast sizes, and its new paddle design provides easier and more comfortable patient positioning.
The benefits of digital mammography are many. Digital mammography is more accurate in detecting cancers in women with dense breasts, women under 50 and peri-menopausal women. Other benefits include up to a 40 percent less radiation dose over standard mammography, and there are fewer callbacks or retakes for additional images because images can be enhanced with the computer. Digital mammograms also can be electronically transmitted to other physicians for viewing or reading. Southeast’s Mammography Service is accredited by the American College of Radiology.
In the event breast cancer is detected, the following services are available through the Breast Care and Diagnostic Center:

- Consultation with plastic surgeons
- Nutritional counseling
- Specialty products on-site for breast cancer patients
- Physical therapy
- Lymphedema management
- Support groups
Southeast welcomes Breast Care & Diagnostic Center Radiologist and Medical Director
Tony Sangchompuphen, M.D., Radiology, is the Medical Director of the Breast Care and Diagnostic Center .
Dr. Sangchompuphen received a B.A. degree from Rice University in Houston, TX.
He received his M.D. degree from the University of Texas Health Sciences Center at San Antonio. He completed a residency in Radiology at Oakwood Hospital in Dearborn, MI.
Prior to coming to Cape Girardeau, Dr. Sangchompuphen practiced in Waverly, OH. |
