| When Southeast Missouri Hospital introduced a hospital-based Home Health service to the region 21 years ago, its mission was a simple one: helping patients remain at home, living as comfortably and independently as possible.
The Home Health staff, area physicians and families work together to coordinate the best possible care. Thousands of patients have been able to enjoy the comfort of their own homes, reassured by the fact that a registered nurse is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Just last year alone, Southeast Home Health recorded nearly 10,000 patient visits. |

Services for cancer patients include skilled nursing procedures provided by a registered nurse; occupational therapy; physical therapy; speech pathology; enterostomal care; parenteral nutrition; medical social work; and help with activities of daily living. Southeast Home Health is Medicare certified and Medicaid approved.
Nurses also work to educate patients and families about care needs so that a patient can be as independent as possible. Home Health can also assist patients in securing medical equipment such as wheelchairs, beds and oxygen delivery systems.
Southeast Home Health serves Cape Girardeau, Bollinger, Perry and Scott counties and portions of Mississippi, New Madrid and Stoddard counties. For more information about Southeast Home Health, call (573) 335-6609.

Among services provided through Southeast Hospice are nursing; assistance with personal care and light housekeeping by a trained nurse aid; assistance with legal and financial matters; assistance with medications and medical equipment and supplies; individual and family counseling; spiritual counseling; and nutritional support and therapy.
A special part of the Hospice support system is the Hospice Volunteer. Besides helping families by providing much-need rest breaks for short periods of time or running errands, Hospice Volunteers are good friends and good listeners to both patients and families. Following a patient’s death, bereavement support for family members continues for 13 months. For more information about Southeast Hospice, call (573) 335-6208.
