Tumor Board and Tumor Registry

To facilitate comprehensive care for cancer patients, a multi-disciplinary team of physicians meets every third Tuesday of the month at 7 a.m. in the Harrison Room at Southeast Missouri Hospital to review current and prospective cases. Activities also include the review of current literature and research regarding patient diagnosis, treatment and follow-up.

To schedule cases for presentation, call Southeast’s Tumor Registry at 573-651-5809.

Tumor Registry

Southeast Missouri Hospital’s Regional Cancer Center is a Community Hospital Cancer Program (CHCP) with the Commission on Cancer. In meeting the criteria for a CHCP, our Tumor Board met on a monthly basis in 2005 with 47 cases being presented. Physician representatives from Medical and Radiation Oncology, Surgery, Radiology and Pathology were in attendance.

Southeast’s Tumor Registry completed 2005 with 525 newly diagnosed and/or treated cases being added to the registry. An additional 54 non-analytic (recurrent) cases were accessioned along with 25 non-reportable (basal and squamous cell) skin cancers. Our Registry now has 13,371 cases included in its data base.

Our follow-up rate continues to exceed the Commission on Cancer’s requirements. In May of 2005 our Cancer Program was surveyed by Dr. William Brooks from the COC Approvals Program.

We were awarded the COC’s Three-Year Approval with Commendation.
